Why The Ashley AW1820E Is Worth The Investment
This isn't a different insert under the hood, it's the same 69,000 BTU output, firebrick-lined construction, and 150 CFM blower as the US1800E, giving homeowners who prefer the Ashley Hearth name and cool touch wood handle detail the identical performance.
The AW1820E specifically addresses the needs of homeowners with an old, inefficient fireplace who want the Ashley Hearth brand's styling alongside genuine EPA-compliant heating efficiency.
Turns A Drafty Fireplace Into An Efficient, Airtight Appliance. An air tight fireplace insert design greatly improves the efficiency of an existing fireplace, so the same opening that once let heat escape up the chimney now genuinely warms the room.
Built For Real Supplemental Heat. Producing 69,000 BTUs, this EPA "Step 2" 2020 certified insert heats up to 1,200 sq. ft. and achieves over 75% efficient heating. Heavy gauge 3/16 in. reinforced plate steel with firebrick lining supports long-term durability.
Engineered For Clean Viewing And Easy Installation. A heavy cast iron door with a cool touch wood handle and air washed ceramic glass offers a magnificent, safe-to-touch view of the burning fire. A large 31 in. x 44 in. hearth surround fully encloses the existing fireplace, with spring-loaded automatic adjustment for straightforward installation.
Real Savings. Converting an existing fireplace avoids the cost of a full fireplace replacement or new construction. An included 150 CFM blower avoids the added cost of purchasing air circulation separately, and over 75% efficient heating reduces the amount of wood needed to heat the same space compared to an open hearth. Free shipping and no sales tax through Summit Forge Supply keeps the total cost down compared to buying elsewhere and paying tax and freight separately.
The Bottom Line Homeowners with an old, inefficient fireplace who want the Ashley Hearth brand's styling alongside genuine heating efficiency can't get that combination from a differently branded insert. The Ashley AW1820E is built with a cool touch wood handle, a firebrick-lined firebox, and an included 150 CFM blower, so it delivers up to 69,000 BTUs of real heat at over 75% efficiency. For anyone wanting Ashley Hearth styling in a genuinely efficient fireplace insert, this is the insert built to make it work.

The flue collar is designed to take 6” flue pipe.
The Btu output listed in the owner’s manual is calculated under specific test conditions when undergoing EPA certification. These parameters are not the same as normal usage of the stove. The advertised Btu is based on the maximum Btu input that has been obtained in that particular stove.
A) Draft is the number one contributor to how well your stove is going to burn. Your chimney is what drives this draft. If it is too short, or not made with the correct material or somehow not installed properly, it has a drastic impact on how well your stove performs. This can lead to the fire only staying lit if the feed door is open, smoking, blackened glass, and other issues if the chimney isn’t providing sufficient draft. Newer EPA certified stoves require a substantial amount of draft than older non-regulated stoves. You cannot compare how an old stove performed with how a new stove performs on the same installation.
B) The type of wood, quality of wood, and wood moisture are also integral in the performance of the stove. Wood should be seasoned properly with a moisture content between 15% and 20% (please note that surface moisture may be less than the internal moisture content so we recommend splitting the wood before checking the moisture content). Wood that has too high of a moisture content can lead to difficulty maintaining a fire, excessive smoking, and creosote production.
When it comes to product design, innovation, engineering, and testing, that all happens right here in South Pittsburg, Tennessee. Due to the competitive marketplace in the heating industry and the price point we want to offer our customers; we manufacture this model in China under very strict oversight.
No, none of our heaters allow for the change of the flue location.
With an EPA certified stove, a manual solid flue damper cannot be used. If you are wanting more control over the fire to allow for a slower burn, we instead recommend a Barometric Draft Regulator.
If the stove is mobile home approved and is being installed in a mobile home, then a fresh air kit is required. It is only optional otherwise, but may be necessary if you have a really air tight home or you are getting a negative pressure in the house. The addition of a fresh air kit can help with the overall draft of the stove.
We do not recommend the usage of any grates in any of our wood stoves.
Yes. These stoves are designed to be operated without the use of a blower. Most of the time the blowers are optional accessories that can be purchased if wanted, but not required.
The front cover of the owner’s manual should state if a stove is approved for mobile home usage or not. If you need to find the owner’s manual, the latest addition should be on our website.
